COME TO MEDJUGORJE

Your Blessed Mother Calls

On June 24, 1981, at around 6 pm, six children reported seeing a vision of a woman holding a child in her arms on the rocky terrain of Mt. Podbrdo in Medjugorje. They did not approach her, even though they knew in their hearts it was Our Blessed Mother. The next day at the same time, four of the children, Ivanka Ivankovic, Mirjana Dragicevic, Vicka Ivankovic and Ivan Dragicevic, felt drawn to return to the same place where they had seen the vision the day before. They were joined by Marija Pavlovic and Jakov Colo. This time when Our Blessed Mother appeared, she drew them to her, effortlessly transporting them up the mountain where she introduced herself as the Queen of Peace. They fell to their knees and began to pray. She prayed with them and promised to return the next day. Our Blessed Mother has been appearing in Medjugorje ever since.

"Today's world has lost its sense of the supernatural.
But many are searching for it – and find it – in Medjugorje, through prayer, penance and fasting."
St. John Paul II

The Messages of Medjugorje

Our Lady says she comes to Medjugorje to let us know that God is real, and that He loves us. Each of Our Lady’s messages are a call to open and convert our hearts, to lead us away from sin and worldly temptations and closer to her Son and his Word. Although Our Lady began appearing in 1981, Medjugorje was under communist control at the time, making it difficult and dangerous to disseminate information. Following the arrival of democracy, the official Information Center for Medjugorje began systematically translating photos, news articles, and documented healings. Most importantly, they translate and archive Our Lady’s messages so they can be shared with the world.

Fr. Leon Pereira Explains the Main Messages of Medjugorje
In this talk given at St. John’s Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Fr. Leon, Chaplain to English-speaking pilgrims in Medjugorje, discusses the main messages of our Blessed Mother in Medjugorje.

The Five Main Messages or "Stones" of Medjugorje

Just as God armed David with five stones to defeat Goliath, Our Lady has chosen each of us to defeat atheism and evil with just five stones – Prayer, Fasting, the Mass, the Bible, and Confession – five mighty weapons to protect us and help us grow closer to her Son.
Five Stones - Prayer

Prayer

Our Lady asks us to “Pray, Pray, Pray!,” calling for the renewal of prayer in our homes and to pray out of love.
Five Stones - The Mass

THE MASS

Our Lady reminds us that Jesus gives us his graces in the Mass. Go to Holy Mass often and receive Christ in a state of grace.
Five Stones - The Bible

THE BIBLE

Our Lady as that we put the Bible in a place of prominence in our homes as encouragement to read it every day.
Five Stones - Fasting

FASTING

Our Lady asks us to fast on Wednesdays and Fridays, for through fasting we can stop wars and suspend natural laws.
Five Stones - Confession

CONFESSION

Our Lady asks that we go to holy confession once a month, so that Jesus can be born anew in our hearts.

What is the Ruini Commission?

Pope Benedict XVI set up a commission chaired by Cardinal Camillo Ruini to “collect and examine all the material” about Medjugorje. From 2010 to 2014, the committee examined documents from the Vatican, the parish of Medjugorje, and the Yugoslavia secret service. It investigated the seers, witnesses and the village itself. Although portions of the Ruini Report have allegedly been leaked, we currently await Pope Francis’ response as to whether it supports the supernatural character of the alleged apparitions.
